Born at Blyth SA (before the hospital was closed!) Primary schooling at Hart (before the school was closed!) and at Laura Secondary schooling at Gladstone High School. Came to Whyalla in 1951 as an electrical engineering trainee with BHP. Studied part time at the South Australian Institute of Technology for Higher Certificate. Now retired from work and trying to find the time to do the things he wants/needs to do! Long retired from cricket and football for North Whyalla. Lapsed golfer with sticks still in the shed. Married to Julienne (nee King) with 4 children in Adelaide(2), Brisbane and Senegal, 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Their intention is to remain in the Whyalla community and enjoy the benefits of the lifestyle - 5 minutes to any-where! Barrie is involved with Advancing Whyalla to help further improve the community. Other community involvement includes Neighbourhood Watch, Whyalla Baptist Church, the Bible Society and the Boomerang Association of Australia
