The New Jersey Department of the Treasury
Division of Taxation is recruiting for
Investigator Trainees
Investigator Trainees interview taxpayers to identify non-compliance with tax laws, collect tax liabilities, conduct
surveillance operations, prepare and deliver legal documents, conduct seizures and auctions of businesses and
personal property, and work with law enforcement agencies to enforce the tax laws of New Jersey. Criminal
Investigator Trainees investigate and detect criminal violations of tax laws and prepare cases for criminal
prosecution. Upon successful completion of training and demonstration of proficiency, employees are eligible for
advancement to the journeyman title of Investigator 3, Taxation. Field positions are located throughout the State
and office positions are located in Trenton.

Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree. Degrees obtained outside of the
United States must be evaluated. A listing of evaluation services is provided at

Additional Requirements:

ƒ Must have authorization to work in the United States.
ƒ Employment is subject to successful completion of a background investigation.
ƒ A valid NJ driver’s license and reliable transportation is necessary for field positions.
