Protokoll des Gründungsaktes der Salesianischen Kongregation
Turin, am 18. Dezember
1859. Im Jahr des Herrn achtzehnhundertneunundfünfzig versammelten sich am achtzehnten Dezember in diesem Oratorium des hl. Franz von Sales im Zimmer des Priesters Johannes Bosco um 9 Uhr abends der Priester Alasonatti Vittorio, die Kleriker Savio Angelo, Diakon, Rua Michele, Subdiakon, Cagliero Giovanni, Francesia Gio Battista, Provera Francesco, Ghivarello Carlo, Lazzero Giuseppe, Bonetti Giovanni, Anfossi Giovanni, Marcellino Luigi, Cerruti Francesco, Durando Celestino, Pettiva Secondo, Rovetto Antonio, Bongiovanni Cesare Giuseppe sowie der Jugendliche Chiapale Luigi; alle kamen einmütig und zu dem Zweck zusammen, um den Geist der wahren Nächstenliebe zu fördern und zu bewahren, der im Werk der Oratorien für die verlassene und gefährdete Jugend erforderlich ist, welche in diesen bedrohlichen Zeiten in tausendfältiger Weise zum Schaden der Gesellschaft verführt und in Gottlosigkeit und Religionslosigkeit gestürzt wird.
Es gefiel daher den genannten Versammelten, sich als Gesellschaft oder Kongregation zu gründen, welche die gegenseitige Hilfe für die eigene Heiligung zum Ziel hat und sich vornimmt, die Ehre Gottes und das Heil der Seelen zu fördern, besonders jener, die am meisten der Unterweisung und Erziehung bedürfen. Und nachdem das vorgeschlagene Vorhaben einmütig gebilligt, ein kurzes Gebet gesprochen und die Erleuchtung des Heiligen Geistes erfleht worden war, schritten sie zur Wahl der Mitglieder, welche die Leitung der Gesellschaft für diese und für neue Kongregationen bilden sollten, sofern es Gott gefallen sollte, deren Zunahme zu fördern.
Sie baten deshalb einmütig ihn, den Initiator und Förderer, die Aufgabe des Generalobern zu übernehmen, weil sie ihm völlig angemessen sei. Nachdem er sie mit dem Vorbehalt der Befugnis, selbst den Präfekten zu ernennen, angenommen hatte und darauf kein Widerspruch erfolgte, brachte er zum Ausdruck, dass er es für gut halte, den Schriftführer, der bisher diese Aufgabe im Haus schon innehatte, nicht vom Amt des Präfekten entfernen zu sollen.
Man dachte sodann gleich an den Modus der Wahl für die übrigen Mitglieder, die zur Leitung gehören sollten. Und man einigte sich darauf, die Abstimmung mit geheimer Stimmabgabe auf dem kürzesten Wege durchzuführen, um den Rat zu bilden, der aus einem Geistlichen Direktor, einem Ökonom und zusätzlich zu diesen beiden vorgeschriebenen Amtsträgern aus drei weiteren Ratsmitgliedern zusammengesetzt sein muss.
Nachdem der Schriftführer zu diesem Zweck als Sekretär benannt worden war, der hiermit versichert, das Amt getreu ausgeübt zu haben, und ihm das gemeinsame Vertrauen 1 Kritischer Text, italienisches Original vorbereitet vom Salesianischen Historischen Institut, Rom, Generalat. ausgesprochen worden war, wurde einem jeden der anwesenden Mitglieder in der Reihenfolge das Stimmrecht erteilt, in der es zur Wahl aufgerufen wurde. Das Ergebnis der Wahl des Geistlichen Direktors ergab, dass die Wahl einstimmig auf den Kleriker Subdiakon Rua Michele fiel, der diese nicht ablehnte. Das wiederholte sich bei der Wahl zum Ökonom, bei der der Diakon Angelo Savio gewählt und anerkannt wurde, der seinerseits ebenfalls versprach, die entsprechende Aufgabe zu übernehmen.
Es blieb noch die Wahl der drei Ratsmitglieder. Als erster derselben ging der Kleriker Cagliero Giovanni nach dem üblichen Modus aus der Abstimmung hervor. Als zweites Ratsmitglied wurde Gio Bonetti gewählt. Beim dritten und letzten Wahlgang ergab sich ein Gleichstand der Stimmen für die Kleriker Ghivarello Carlo und Provera Francesco. In einem weiteren Wahlgang entfiel die Mehrheit der Stimmen auf den Kleriker Ghivarello, und so wurde der Leitungskörper für unsere Gesellschaft definitiv konstituiert.
Dieser Tatbestand, wie er bis hierhin insgesamt dargelegt worden ist, wurde in der Vollversammlung der vorgenannten Mitglieder und der hierfür ernannten Amtsträger verlesen, die ihrerseits die Richtigkeit anerkannten. Übereinstimmend bekräftigten sie, dass das Original aufbewahrt werden solle, welches zur Bestätigung seiner Echtheit der Generalobere und als Sekretär unterzeichneten Pr. Bosco, Gio.

The 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Salesian Society is a privileged opportunity to reflect on Don Bosco's original idea and on the concrete foundation of the original groups which he raised up and nurtured: the Salesians of Don Bosco, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, the Association of Salesian Cooperators, the Association of Mary Help of Christians.

All [present were] united in one and the same spirit with the sole purpose of preserving and promoting the spirit of true charity needed for the work of the Oratories on behalf of neglected young people at risk. For in these disastrous times of ours such young people are liable to be corrupted and plunged into godlessness and irreligion to the detriment of the whole of society. The Gathered group then decided to form a society or congregation with the aim of promoting the glory of God and the salvation of souls, especially of those most in need of instruction and education, while providing the members with mutual help toward their own sanctification. The project met with unanimous approval. Hence, after a short prayer and the invocation of the light of the Holy Spirit, the group proceeded to elect the members that would make up the central body of the Society and would lead this and future com - munities,if it should please God to grant increase.» . I maintain that in this text we have the basis not only for the Salesian Congregation, but for the entire Salesian Family: communion of spirit and charity of service for the’ “work of the Oratories on behalf of neglected young people at risk”; the need “to form a society or congregation”; the seeking of “their own sanctification”, achieved through their carrying out of their mission: “the glory of God and the salvation of souls”; in a specific field “instruction and education”; already thinking of the possibility of “new communities if it pleased So then, taking as a starting point the parable which Jesus used to explain the Kingdom of heaven and its dynamics, I hazard to say that the seed sown by Don Bosco has grown into a leafy, strong tree, a true gift of God to the Church and the world. The Salesian Family has in fact experienced a true springtime. Under the impulse of the Holy Spirit, other groups, with specific vocations, have been added to the original groups, and have enriched communion and broadened the Salesian mission.
It is evident to everyone today how the Family has increased and multiplied the work achieved and everything we have dreamt about; the field of activity for the benefit of young people and adults has extended beyond limits. We are grateful to the Lord for this and are aware of our huge responsibility, precisely because every vocation, including that of the Salesian Family, is at the service of the mission, in our case the salvation of youth, especially those who are poor, abandoned and at risk. Il 150º anniversario di fondazione della Società Salesiana è un’occasione privilegiata per riflettere sull’idea originale di Don Bosco e sulla fondazione concreta dei gruppi originari, suscitati e coltivati da lui: i Salesiani di Don Bosco, le Figlie di Maria Ausiliatrice, l’Associazione dei Cooperatori Salesiani, l’Associazione dei Devoti di Maria Ausiliatrice.
A questo punto mi sembra doveroso, illuminante e nello stesso tempo commovente leggere il verbale dell’Atta di fondazione della Socie- «L’anno del Signore mille ottocento cinquantanove alli diciotto di Dicembre in questo Oratorio di S. Francesco di Sales nella camera del Sacerdote Bosco Gioanni alle ore 9 pomeridiane si radunavano, esso, il Sacerdote Alasonatti Vittorio, i chierici Savio Angelo Diaco - no, Rua Michele Suddiacono, Cagliero Gioanni, Francesia Gio Battista, Provera Francesco, Ghivarello Carlo, Lazzero Giuseppe, Bonet - ti Gioanni, Anfossi Gioanni, Marcellino Luigi, Cerruti Francesco, Durando Celestino, Pettiva Secondo, Rovetto Antonio, Bongiovanni Cesare Giuseppe, il giovane Chiapale Luigi, tutti allo scopo ed in uno spirito di promuovere e conservare lo spirito di vera carità che ri - chiesi nell’opera degli Oratorii per la gioventù abbandonata e pericolante, la quale in questi calamitosi tempi viene in mille maniere sedotta a danno della società e precipitata nell’empietà ed irreligione. Piacque pertanto ai medesimi Congregati di erigersi in Società o Congregazione che avendo di mira il vicendevole ajuto per la santif i- cazione propria si proponesse di promuovere la gloria di Dio e la salute delle anime specialmente delle più bisognose d’istruzione e di educazione ed approvato di comune consenso il disegno proposto, fatta breve preghiera ed invocato il lume dello Spirito Santo, proce - devano alla elezione dei Membri che dovessero costituire la direzione della società per questa e per nuove Congregazioni se a Dio pia - Ritengo che in questo testo abbiamo i punti fondamentali non soltanto per la Congregazione dei Salesiani, ma anche per l’intera famiglia salesiana: la comunione di spirito e carità al servizio dell’ “opera degli Oratorii per la gioventù abbandonata e pericolante”; il bisogno “di erigersi in Società o Congregazione”; la ricerca della “santificazione propria”, realizzata attraverso la realizzazione della missione: “la glo - ria di Dio e la salute delle anime”; con un campo specifico “l’istruzione ed educazione”; pensando già alla possibilità di “nuove Congrega - zioni se a Dio piacerà favorirne l’incremento”.
Ebbene, prendendo spunto dalla parabola adoperata da Gesù per spiegare il Regno dei cieli e il suo dinamismo, mi azzardo a dire che il seme seminato da Don Bosco è cresciuto fino a diventare un albero frondoso e robusto, vero dono di Dio alla Chiesa e al mondo. Infatti, la Famiglia Salesiana ha vissuto un’autentica primavera. Ai gruppi originari si sono uniti, sotto l'impulso dello Spirito Santo, altri gruppi che, con vocazioni specifiche, hanno arricchito la comunione e allargato la missione salesiana.
Oggi è evidente agli occhi di tutti quanto è aumentata la Famiglia, si è moltiplicato il lavoro compiuto e quello che sogniamo; si è esteso senza limiti il campo di azione a beneficio di tanti giovani e adulti. Di questo siamo grati al Signore e prendiamo consapevolezza della no - stra maggiore responsabilità, appunto perché come ogni vocazione, anche questa della Famiglia Salesiana è al servizio della missione, nel caso nostro la salvezza della gioventù, specie la più povera, abbandonata e pericolante.
