Environmentally improved packaging can increase customer satisfaction
significantly. We have been striving to develop creative packaging and distribution
methods that safeguard product quality while reducing the impact on the
environment. We replaced approximately 50% (in gross weight) of packing
cushions for measuring instruments from traditional styrene foam (expanded
polystyrene) to a combination of easy-to-recycle pulp mold and film cushions made
of 100% recycled material by the end of fiscal 1999. Also, we have been
