INJECTION INSTRUCTIONS You are scheduled for an injection procedure: Your procedure will be performed at: Gulf Coast Pain Management Northwood Plaza Medical Building 3001 Eastland Boulevard Suite 7 Clearwater, Florida 33761 Please follow these instructions specifically as indicated: STOP ASPIRIN, ASLICYLATE/DISALCID/DOLOBID/TRILISATE, ECOTRIN, BAYER, BUFFERIN 5 days prior to your scheduled injection. These products interfere with blood clotting by affecting the platelets. STOP BLOOD THINNERS/ANTI-COAGULANTS – Coumadin/Jantoven/Warfarin, Plavix/Clopidogrel, Persantin/Aggrenox/Dipyridamole, Trental/Pentoxifylline, Pletal/Cilostazol 5 days prior to your scheduled injection. These products interfere with one or more clotting factors which help the body to stop bleeding. Please consult your primary care physician and/or cardiologist before discontinuing these medications. STOP ARTHRITIS MEDICINE/NSAIDS – Ibuprofen/Motrin/Advil/Nuprin, Naprosyn/Naproxen/Aleve, Anaprox, Daypro/Oxaprozin, Arthrotec, Cataflam, Clinoril/Sulindac, Indocin/Indotmethacin, Lodine/Etodolac, Oruval/Ketoprofen, Relafen, Voltaten/Diclofenac, Ansaid, Feldene/Piroxicam 5 days prior to your scheduled injection. These products may slow down your body’s ability to control bleeding by affecting the platelets.
Do not discontinue any other medications, unless specifically advised. YOU MUST HAVE A DRIVER FOR YOUR PROCEDURE MEDICATIONS TO DISCONTINUE 5 DAYS PRIOR TO INJECTION: ASPIRIN and All CATAFLAM MOTRIN NAPROSYN ASPIRIN BASED CLOPIDOGREL NUPRIN ORUVAL PRODUCTS ADVIL CLINORIL OXAPROZIN PLAVIX ALEVE AGGRENOX DIPYRIDAMOLE PERSANTIME ANAPROX ANSAID DICLOFENAC PENTOXIFYLLINE ARTHROTEC DOLOBID DAYPRO PIROXCAM PLETAL ANTIBIODICS BAYER DISALCID ECOTRIN BUFFERIN ETODOLAC FELDENE SALICYLATE COUMADIN/WARFARI IBUPROFEN SULINDAC TRENTAL N CILOSTAZOL INDOMETHACIN TRILISATE INDOCIN LODINE VOLTAREN Post Injection Instructions: You may fell numb at the injection site for 2 - 4 hours because of the use of local anesthetic on your skin. The use of ice at the injection site is permitted for 10 – 15 minutes each hour, for the first 24 hours. DO NOT USE HEAT for 24 hours after the injection. Please exercise caution when using cold or heat, as excessive use of either may result in injury to the skin. Light activity the day of treatment is best, and unless otherwise instructed, you may resume you normal routine thereafter. Please follow written instructions given in addition to these.
