A post mortem urine sample was obtained and a full post mortem operation conducted. When interviewed Stable representative Mr. M Ollerton stated that Intercites had been subject to a normal preparation with no incidents that warranted any treatments or any actions outside the normal stable routines and said that the stable was
confident that the filly was fully fit and in proper condition to continue a racing preparation. At the time of the race the temperature was 26.2 degrees Celsius and the wet bulb thermometer reading was 20.6 Race 2: Maiden Plate 1400m Gosses Bluff began awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and bumped heavily with Honey Toast. Race 4: Class 1 Handicap 1100m Trainer Mr. L Davies was fined $50 (AR59A) for failing to produce the document of description for Crooked Blaze. When questioned in relation to the performance of Crooked Blaze A Gibbons explained that he had intended to ride his mount with cover in the early stages, however the gelding began very well and could not be restrained without causing it to over race. He said that when in the lead Crooked Blaze would not relax and this in his opinion was the reason that it weakened noticeably inside the 150m. Trainer Mr. L Davies confirmed that it had been intended to obtain cover in the early stages and said that depending on the gelding’s recovery, its preparation would continue with the intention of nominating it for the wellington Boot, where he would instruct whoever rode Crooked Blaze to again attempt to find cover in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination of Crooked Blaze revealed the gelding displayed a poor recovery. Race 5: 3YO Maiden Plate 1200m Acting on a confirmed phone call that Sutton Oracle had been injured whilst being loaded onto the float to travel to the course the gelding was

Approaching the 350m Perfect Dragon had to be checked, when crowded between Dubawi Dream, which was racing greenly and shifted out and Winning Snip, which was carried in by Tofindaway (A Skerritt), which shifted in when not quite clear. A Skerritt was asked to exercise more care. Dubawi Dream raced intractably when placed under pressure inside the 300m and placed its rider at a disadvantage. Race 6: Class 2 Handicap 900m Rikkii Dynamo and Shatavari were slow to begin. Beauty’s Girl blundered badly at the start.
