Riding Changes:
Race 5: D Pitomac replaced T Marshall (explanation accepted)
Race 1: Maiden Handicap 900m
Sharani
which was fractious and became cast in the barrier was declared
unfit by the clubs veterinary officer. Sharani was withdrawn at 1.19pm and
when correct weight was declared it was ordered that all bets made on
Sharani be refunded in full and with regard to betting with bookmakers, all
successful wagers placed before 1.19pm, were to be subject to the
following deduction on the face value of the betting ticket:
1st Anastasia Winni – 8 cents Win & 11 cents Place
2nd Lullaby Baby – 11 cents Place
3rd Bold Features – 11 cents Place
Trainer Mr. S Hodge was advised that prior to racing again Sharani would
be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. C Van Der
Werf (Snipsanna) in the presence of RacingNSW apprentice mentor Mr.
M Johnston, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding (AR137a), in that
she allowed her mount to shift in approaching the 600m, when
insufficiently clear of Anastasia Winni, which was carried inwards into the
running of What About Slew which had to be checked. C Van Der Werf’s
permit to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence Sunday
2/3/14 and to expire 8/3/14 on which day she may resume. A post-race
veterinary examination of What About Slew revealed the gelding
displayed a poor recovery with thumps. Intercites collapsed in the
mounting enclosure after the race and was subsequently euthanized by
the clubs veterinary officer. A post mortem urine sample was obtained and
a full post mortem operation conducted. When interviewed Stable
representative Mr. M Ollerton stated that Intercites had been subject to a
normal preparation with no incidents that warranted any treatments or any
actions outside the normal stable routines and said that the stable was
confident that the filly was fully fit and in proper condition to continue a
racing preparation. At the time of the race the temperature was 26.2
degrees Celsius and the wet bulb thermometer reading was 20.6
Race 2: Maiden Plate 1400m
Gosses Bluff
began awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and bumped heavily
with Honey Toast. Heza Clanger hung out from the 700m, ran wide
rounding the home turn and forced Miss Snipster to cover excessive
ground. Trainer Mr. P Atkins was advised that a warning for hanging out
would be placed on the racing record of Heza Clanger and should it
perform similarly in future it would be placed in barrier trials.
Race 3: Class 2 Handicap 1400m
Rockatorio
which sustained an injury during the float trip to the course
was withdrawn at 2.05pm. When correct weight was declared it was
ordered that all bets made on Rockatorio be refunded in full and with
regard to betting with bookmakers, all successful wagers placed prior to
2.05pm, were to be subject to the following deduction on the face value of
the betting ticket:
1st Yasstar – 7 cents Win & 7 cents Place
2nd Initforthedrink – 7 cents Place
Approaching the 400m Caylus shifted to the outside of Mabrouk and
bumped with Only Roses.
Race 4: Class 1 Handicap 1100m
Trainer Mr. L Davies was fined $50 (AR59A) for failing to produce the
document of description for Crooked Blaze. When questioned in relation
to the performance of Crooked Blaze A Gibbons explained that he had
intended to ride his mount with cover in the early stages, however the
gelding began very well and could not be restrained without causing it to
over race. He said that when in the lead Crooked Blaze would not relax
and this in his opinion was the reason that it weakened noticeably inside
the 150m. Trainer Mr. L Davies confirmed that it had been intended to
obtain cover in the early stages and said that depending on the gelding’s
recovery, its preparation would continue with the intention of nominating it
for the wellington Boot, where he would instruct whoever rode Crooked
Blaze to again attempt to find cover in the early stages. A post-race
veterinary examination of Crooked Blaze revealed the gelding displayed a
poor recovery.
Race 5: 3YO Maiden Plate 1200m
Acting on a confirmed phone call that Sutton Oracle had been injured
whilst being loaded onto the float to travel to the course the gelding was
withdrawn at 11.43am. Dubawi Dream raced intractably in the early
stages and hung out rounding the 900m turn. Approaching the 350m
Perfect Dragon had to be checked, when crowded between Dubawi
Dream,
which was racing greenly and shifted out and Winning Snip,
which was carried in by Tofindaway (A Skerritt), which shifted in when not
quite clear. A Skerritt was asked to exercise more care. Dubawi Dream
raced intractably when placed under pressure inside the 300m and placed
its rider at a disadvantage.
Race 6: Class 2 Handicap 900m
Rikkii Dynamo
and Shatavari were slow to begin. Beauty’s Girl
blundered badly at the start. Silk And Bunny which was slow to begin was
crowded shortly after the start between Battered and Shatavari and lost
ground.
Race 7: Benchmark 60 Handicap 1300m
Stromaise
which was slow to begin struck the heels of Circle Of Fame
shortly after the start and blundered.
Race 8: F & M Class 1 Handicap 1100m
Acting on a confirmed phone call that Perfect Cadence sustained an injury
when being loaded onto the float for transport to the course; the mare was
withdrawn at 12.25pm. Gelsomina was slow to begin. Parraay began
awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and bumped heavily with Elusive Blues. S
Arnold (Parraay), in the presence of RacingNSW apprentice mentor Mr. M
Johnston, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding (AR137a), in that
passing the 250m he allowed his mount to shift out whilst riding it along
when insufficiently clear of Elusive Blues which had to be checked. S
Arnold’s permit to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence
Wednesday 5/3/14 and to expire on 12/3/2014 on which day he may ride.
A post-race veterinary examination of Gelsomina which weakened
